Hazelnuts & Filberts are coming

Hazelnuts are a newer addition to Lambs Tales Farm. These native Oregonian trees are a hybrid variety. They are growing well and should be ready for harvest in the fall several years from now!

Lambs Tales Farm is growing Hazelnuts! Hazelnuts are the official state nut of Oregon and Oregon produces almost 100% of hazelnuts grown in the USA.

Are we waiting for hazelnuts or filberts? In the early years of commercial hazelnut orchards, growers used the name “filberts” to differentiate them from the wild hazelnut groves. The tree and fruit are exactly the same. Since “Hazelnuts” is more widely recognized currently, we are growing them. If you would like some of our first filbert or hazelnut harvest, we’d be glad to use whichever name you prefer!
